Technical Support & Diagnostic Steps
RobotFX Troubleshooting Guide
Follow these step-by-step diagnostic procedures to resolve MetaTrader setup, configuration, and execution issues.
If your Expert Advisor or indicator is not operating as expected, please follow these technical diagnostic steps in sequential order. The vast majority of automated execution issues stem from missing terminal permissions, broker execution limits, or missing inputs during setup.
1. Review Documentation & Video Demonstrations
Visit the specific product page for your EA or indicator to verify its designed trading parameters, timeframes, and input controls. Watch all available setup videos to confirm how the strategy executes trades under different market regimes.
Technical Note: Confirming designed behavior prevents configuration misunderstandings—such as expecting a trend-following grid EA to trade against strong market momentum without specific indicator triggers.
2. Configure MetaTrader Terminal Permissions
MetaTrader terminals require explicit user permissions to execute automated trades and process technical scripts:
- Ensure the master AutoTrading button at the top toolbar is active (green).
- In terminal settings (Tools > Options > Expert Advisors), check Allow Automated Trading and Allow DLL Imports.
- Inspect the Experts and Journal tabs at the bottom of your terminal window to check for specific error codes or broker execution warnings.
For a full visual walkthrough on setting up MT4 and MT5 terminal permissions, view our MetaTrader Video Setup Guide.
3. Verify Client Account Credentials (Licensed EAs)
If you are operating a full licensed version on a live account, confirm that your registered email address is entered into the ClientEmail field inside the EA inputs dialog.
Note: Demo account testing versions do not require email validation inputs.
4. Technical Support Request & File Diagnostics
If your EA continues to display errors after completing steps 1–3, submit a formal diagnostic request through our support channels. When contacting our engineering team, please include your saved .set settings file, terminal log excerpts, and account type (ECN, Standard, Hedging, or Netting).

Broker & Environment Dependencies
Please note that technical performance can be constrained by broker-side account rules:
- FIFO & Hedging Constraints: US-regulated brokers enforcing NFA/FIFO rules do not permit hedged positions on the same currency pair. Select FIFO-compatible EAs or utilize a non-US broker account if your strategy relies on hedging.
- Lot Size & Capital Limits: Orders will fail to place if requested lot sizes fall below your broker's minimum lot requirements or exceed maximum lot step multipliers.
- Server Account Classification: Certain brokers incorrectly misclassify demo servers as live environments. If an EA closes unexpectedly, contact your broker to confirm server status flags.
